Crazy Ant
The name comes for the worker’s habit of running haphazardly around a room or building in search of food. Found throughout the U.S. but cannot survive cold winter outdoors.

Workers monomorphic, about 1/16-1/8" long.

Body dark brown to black with gray sheen/luster.

Biology
The colonies tend to be small. Colonies are known to completely abandon one nesting site and move to another.

Inside, ants usually nest underneath floors and in wall voids, especially near hot-water pipes and heaters.
